U.S. President Donald Trump announced early Tuesday that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran has officially taken effect, calling on both nations to honor the agreement and avoid further hostilities.

“THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!” Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social.

The announcement follows mounting tensions in the Middle East, which peaked on Monday after Iran launched a barrage of missiles targeting the U.S. military’s Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The strike came in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites—Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan—conducted on Sunday.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), American and Qatari forces successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles, and no casualties were reported among U.S. or Qatari personnel.

The U.S. strikes marked a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, which began on June 13 with a U.S.-backed Israeli military campaign against Iran. In response, Tehran launched multiple missile attacks on Israeli territory.

The ceasefire agreement, described by Trump as “complete and total,” is intended to bring a halt to the spiraling violence. However, the durability of the truce remains uncertain amid the deep-rooted hostilities between the two nations.
