Trump associate Charlie Kirk shot dead
Charlie Kirk, an influential conservative political leader in the United States and co-founder of Turning Point USA, has been shot dead. The attack occurred while he was giving a speech at Utah Valley University on Wednesday (September 10).
Eyewitnesses reported that gunshots were suddenly heard during the speech. A bullet struck his throat, causing him to collapse on stage. He later died at the scene.
CNN reported, citing the FBI, that a suspect was taken into custody immediately after the attack.
In a statement on the X platform, organization director Kash Patel said that the person responsible for Charlie Kirk's death in today's horrific incident is now in custody. He thanked Utah's local and state authorities for their cooperation in the investigation.
Charlie Kirk was promoting conservative values among young people as part of "The American Comeback Tour."
Following the incident, various political leaders including former US President Donald Trump have expressed deep grief and outrage. They view this as a new milestone in political violence in the United States and have expressed condolences to Kirk's family.
