US President Donald Trump stated that sanctions on Iran could be lifted if the country adopts a peaceful approach and expresses interest in cooperating with the United States, reports Anadolu Ajansi.

In an interview aired on Fox News on Sunday (June 29), Trump said, "If they live peacefully, engage with us, and do no further harm, then I can lift the sanctions. This could be the beginning of a big change for them."

He also said, "It is often more effective to be kind and peaceful than to be tough in achieving goals."

Trump rejected as "baseless" the claim that Iran had removed uranium from its facilities. "Uranium is a heavy and dangerous material that cannot be removed in a short time. We didn't give them much warning, so they couldn’t move anything," Trump explained.

Trump also claimed that Iran was "exhausted" by the recent Israeli-U.S. attacks, suggesting that it was no longer feasible for the country to continue its nuclear programme. "Their situation right now is this – they can't do it anymore," he added.
