Trump interested in diplomatic solution with Iran: White House

US President Donald Trump is still interested in a diplomatic solution regarding Iran’s nuclear program, according to the White House. However, if the Iranian government refuses to talk, then the people of Iran should overthrow the “violent regime.” This statement was made by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

The White House shared the information on Monday (June 23), as reported by AFP and Al Jazeera.

Karoline Leavitt said, “If the Iranian rulers do not come to a peaceful diplomatic solution, then the Iranian people should free themselves from this violent government that has been suppressing them for a long time. President Trump is still interested and involved in the matter.”

However, a day before this statement, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the recent US strikes in Iran were “not aimed at regime change.”

Shortly after that, Trump posted on Twitter, “If the current Iranian government cannot make Iran great again, then why shouldn’t there be regime change?”

Analysts say the Trump administration is clearly keeping both options open — a diplomatic solution and a tough stance — as tensions continue over Iran’s nuclear program.
