US President Donald Trump's aggressive and harsh threats against Iran have sparked strong reactions in American politics. Following his recent remarks, several US politicians have expressed concern and are now questioning his mental fitness.

In a post on his social media platform, Trump issued a stern warning to Iran to open the strategic Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf. He also threatened major attacks on Iran's energy and transport infrastructure.

The comments have triggered widespread criticism in the US political arena. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer described Trump's remarks as "ravings of a madman," saying such comments damage America's image and weaken relations with allies.

Independent Senator Bernie Sanders called Trump's behaviour "dangerous and mentally imbalanced" and urged Congress to intervene quickly to halt the war.

Senator Chris Murphy described Trump's actions as "extreme madness" and raised the possibility of invoking the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution, which could declare the president unfit for duty, allowing the vice president to assume responsibilities.

Even Trump's former close ally Marjorie Taylor Greene has strongly criticised him, claiming Trump has "lost his mental balance" and urging the administration to take immediate control of the situation.

Analysts say the crisis could deepen further without a rapid diplomatic solution, with potential serious consequences for the global economy and security.
