US President Donald Trump has presented a new 21-point plan to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The plan was outlined on Tuesday in New York during a meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders.

Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said on Wednesday the meeting was “productive.” He added, “If President Trump’s plan is implemented, violence in Gaza will decline and the security concerns of Israel and neighbouring countries will be addressed. We are hopeful that progress can be announced soon.”

The published plan includes the release of all prisoners in Gaza, establishment of a permanent ceasefire, formation of an administration free from Hamas influence, and phased withdrawal of Israeli forces.

Arab and Muslim leaders present at the meeting expressed support for the plan and proposed some additional measures. These include halting Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, maintaining Jerusalem’s current status, ensuring unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza, and securing the release of Israeli citizens held captive there.

The meeting took place at the United Nations headquarters against the backdrop of a global conference organised by France and Saudi Arabia to recognise Palestine as an independent and sovereign state.
