Trump threatens military action in Nigeria
US President Donald Trump on Saturday (November 1) threatened military action against Nigeria, accusing its government of allowing the killing of Christians by Islamist groups, reports AFP.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said he had asked the Pentagon to prepare a “guns-a-blazing” plan if Nigeria failed to act, warning that US aid could also be halted.
“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the USA will stop all aid and may very well go into that country ‘guns-a-blazing’ to wipe out the Islamic terrorists,” Trump wrote.
He claimed, without evidence, that “thousands of Christians” were being killed, adding, “If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet.”
Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, faces multiple conflicts that have claimed lives across both Christian and Muslim communities. The country remains deeply divided along religious, ethnic, and regional lines.
