US President Donald Trump has threatened to deliver a 'severe blow' to Iran today. Trump made the statement on his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday, March 7.

The US President claimed that Iran has apologised to its neighbours in the Middle East and 'surrendered', promising not to launch attacks against them.

He asserted that this commitment came as the United States and Israel continued relentless strikes.

"Iran is no longer the 'Bully of the Middle East,' they are, instead, 'THE LOSER OF THE MIDDLE EAST,' and will be for many decades until they surrender or, more likely, completely collapse! Today Iran will be hit very hard!" Trump wrote.

Earlier today, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed regret to neighbouring countries for the attacks carried out in recent days.

Pezeshkian said the country's interim leadership decided on Friday that no further attacks would be launched on neighbouring countries unless Iran is attacked from those territories.

Meanwhile, analyst Hamidreza Gholamzadeh, director of the Iranian think tank Diplo House, stated that Trump's interpretation of Iranian President Pezeshkian's remarks is 'completely false'.

He said Trump's characterisation of Pezeshkian's comments as 'surrender' is 'entirely untrue'.

Analyst Hamidreza noted that Iran is requesting its neighbours not to cooperate with America or Israel and not to allow their land or airspace to be used for attacks on Iran. He described this request as 'very normal' and 'lawful'.
