Trump warns of major strike on Iran if deal fails
US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, saying that a major military strike would follow if ongoing negotiations fail to produce a comprehensive agreement.
He made the ramark in a Truth Social statement on Wednesday night (April 8).
He wrote that US forces with all necessary military assets including warships, aircraft, ammunition, and troops, will remain deployed near Iran until a full and effective deal is reached and neutralise any threat.
Trump also highlighted that the US military is “re-armed and ready for its next victory,” asserting that “America is back.”
Meanwhile, Iran in a statement emphasised that Washington must respect its uranium enrichment programme, according to Iraian state media.
Ahead of an upcoming meeting in Islamabad, Trump reiterated that any agreement will strictly monitor uranium enrichment, affirming that “no nuclear weapons will be allowed in Iran” and the Strait of Hormuz will remain “open and secure.”
Trump's remark comes amid a fragile two-week ceasefire of the war.
During the ceasefire period, Iran agreed to reopen the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz, though it maintains authority over the waterway.
