The United States is set to introduce another distinctive initiative during Donald Trump's second term in office. The president's signature will now appear on US currency.

According to the Treasury Department, the new dollar notes will feature the signature of both Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and President Donald Trump. The move has been announced as part of the country's 250th anniversary celebrations.

Traditionally, US dollar notes carry the signatures of the Treasury Secretary and the Treasurer, a practice in place since 1861. The Trump administration's decision to add the president's signature marks a departure from this long-standing tradition.

Reports indicate that the first phase will see the $100 bill featuring the signatures of Trump and Bessent, with production starting in June. Other denominations will follow in phases.

The dollar notes currently in circulation bear the signatures of former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and former Treasurer Lynn Malerba from the previous administration.

The Trump administration has described the decision as a "historic" initiative. According to them, it will be seen as a symbol of both US history and the current leadership.

Trump has previously undertaken several initiatives featuring his name, including renaming airports, launching his own brand, and even putting his image on commemorative gold coins.
