Tunisia’s World Cup campaign came to an end after a heavy 4–0 defeat against Japan at the Monterrey Stadium in Mexico, sealing their elimination following back-to-back group-stage losses.

The result confirms Tunisia’s exit from the tournament, while Japan strengthened their position on the path to the knockout stage with a commanding second consecutive win.

Japan controlled the match from the outset, imposing their pace, structure and technical superiority throughout the 90 minutes. Daichi Kamada opened the scoring in the 4th minute, giving Japan an early lead and immediate control of the game.

Ayase Ueda doubled the advantage in the 31st minute, punishing Tunisia on the counterattack and leaving the African side with a mountain to climb before halftime.

Despite attempts to respond after the break, Tunisia failed to break Japan’s disciplined defensive setup or cope with their high-tempo transitions.

Japan extended their lead in the 69th minute through Junya Ito, before Ueda struck again in the 83rd minute to complete his brace and seal a comprehensive 4–0 victory.

Tunisia struggled throughout, with repeated defensive lapses and an inability to retain possession in midfield, as Japan’s pressing game consistently disrupted their rhythm.

The defeat follows Tunisia’s earlier 5–1 loss to Sweden, confirming their early elimination from the tournament with one group match still remaining.

In contrast, Japan continue to impress with back-to-back dominant performances, moving to the top of the group and reinforcing their status as strong contenders for the knockout rounds.
