Twin grooms, twin brides, twin priests: Kerala's one-of-a-kind wedding goes viral

An exceptional wedding ceremony in Kerala, India, has taken social media by storm. The highlight of the wedding was that not only the grooms and brides, but also the priests who conducted the rituals and their assistants were all twins.

The wedding took place on Thursday (July 30) at a metropolitan church in Changanacherry, Kerala, where twin brothers Akhil K Thomas and Nikhil K Thomas married twin sisters Maggi Mary and Maria Mary. The uniqueness of the event was further amplified by the presence of twin priests, Father Anjo Pezhumkattil and Father Ajo Pezhumkattil, who officiated the ceremony, with another pair of twin teenagers, Jeron James and Johan James, serving as assistants.

Akhil and Nikhil are the sons of Kunjumon Thomas and Jomol from the Vettuparambil area of Changanacherry. The brides, Maggi and Maria, are the twin daughters of Tomichan and Merikutty from Kulathur in Pathanamthitta district. According to family members, the twin sisters had dreamt since childhood of having a wedding where all the key participants would be twins. They actively searched for twin priests and were ultimately able to invite the twin priests from a church in Kothanallur.

The brides said they were delighted that their long-cherished dream had become a reality with the support of their family. The twin priests also described the experience as one of the most memorable moments of their lives, noting that the opportunity to officiate a wedding for twin couples was extremely rare and unforgettable.

Professionally, the grooms are both employed in the merchant navy, while the brides work in the IT sector. As photos and videos of the ceremony spread on social media, netizens expressed widespread fascination with this unique arrangement, with many calling it a rare and memorable event.
