Two more die of dengue, 396 new cases

Dengue claimed two more lives in the last 24 hours while 396 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. This brings the death toll this year to 202 and total cases to 48,228.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the figures in a bulletin on Thursday (2 October).

According to the report, one of the deceased was from Chattogram and the other from Dhaka North City Corporation area.

Of the 396 new cases, 87 were reported in Barishal, 96 in Chattogram, 90 in Dhaka division, 52 in Dhaka North, 56 in Dhaka South, and 15 in Rajshahi.

Meanwhile, 409 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 45,682 this year.

DGHS data show that in 2024 Bangladesh recorded 101,214 dengue cases with 575 deaths. In 2023, the deadliest year on record, 1,705 people died and 321,179 were hospitalised.
