Two more rescued alive on 10th day of Nepal floods, landslides

Two more people, including a woman and a Chinese national, have been rescued alive as Nepal enters the 10th day since devastating floods and landslides struck the country, the Nepal Army said.

On Saturday (September 5), 64-year-old Chandika Shrestha was rescued from the fourth floor of her home in Nuwakot, while a Chinese national was pulled alive from a tunnel at the Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project.

The Chinese national was later airlifted by helicopter to a local hospital for treatment.

The latest rescue brings the number of people found alive at the Trishuli Hydropower Project to three. Two Nepali nationals were rescued from the same tunnel on Friday.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the floods and landslides that hit Nepal on August 26 has risen to 1,342, while 4,886 people, including foreign nationals, remain missing, according to authorities.
