UAE grants royal pardon to 440 Bangladeshi prisoners
The rulers of the United Arab Emirates have granted a royal pardon to 440 Bangladeshi prisoners on the occasion of the country’s 54th National Day, Eid Al Etihad.
The UAE embassy in Dhaka said in a press release on Wednesday that the pardon was announced as part of the 2025 Eid Al Etihad celebrations. Thousands of prisoners from different countries were pardoned nationwide during the occasion.
Every year, UAE rulers grant royal pardons to convicted prisoners on major national and religious occasions, including Eid and National Day, to promote forgiveness, social reintegration and family reunification.
Officials said a large number of prisoners were released under the 2025 pardon programme, including Bangladeshi nationals, allowing them to rebuild their lives and return to their families and communities.
The initiative highlights the humanitarian values and compassion upheld by the UAE leadership.
The UAE National Day, Eid Al Etihad, is observed every year on December 2 to commemorate the historic unification of the Emirates under one flag in 1971.
