The United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have formally recognised Palestine as a state. The three countries made the announcements sequentially on Sunday, September 21.

Canada was the first to issue the declaration, followed by Australia, while the UK was the last to extend recognition.

In his formal statement, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, “To revive peace and the two-state solution, I, as the Prime Minister of this great nation, hereby declare that the United Kingdom has officially recognised Palestine as a state.”

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said, “Canada recognises the State of Palestine. At the same time, we pledge our commitment to a partnership in building a peaceful future for both Palestinians and Israelis.”
