British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has ruled out the possibility of direct military involvement in the escalating tensions surrounding Iran. He has made it clear that there are no plans to deploy British troops to Iran.

According to Al Jazeera, commenting on the situation, Starmer said, "This is not our war, and we do not wish to be drawn into it."

He stated that the United Kingdom is only taking defensive measures at present. The primary objectives of these steps are to ensure the safety of British citizens, protect national interests, and secure allied nations in the Middle East.

Regarding tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, he said the UK will continue to work towards keeping this crucial waterway open. However, he emphasised that Britain will not involve itself in this conflict.

Although not participating directly in combat, the UK has taken some strategic steps. These include allowing the United States to use British military bases to strike targets in Iran and deploying fighter jets to intercept missiles launched from Iran.
