UN Secretary-General António Guterres has welcomed the United States’ decision to extend the ceasefire, according to a statement by UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric. Dujarric said Guterres views the move as a positive step toward de-escalation and the creation of conditions for diplomacy and trust-building between Iran and the United States. He urged all parties to seize the opportunity and refrain from any actions that could undermine the ceasefire, calling for constructive engagement toward a lasting solution. On the diplomatic process, Dujarric said Guterres fully supports Pakistan’s mediation efforts to ensure the success of upcoming talks. He expressed hope that the initiative would help pave the way for a durable and effective resolution to the conflict.
