The United Nations (UN) Security Council is set to vote on a resolution that would allow member states to use “all defensive measures” to secure the Strait of Hormuz.

The vote follows a series of provocative actions, including a video posted by US President Donald Trump on social media showing a strike on a bridge in Karaj of Iran, which local authorities say killed eight people.

In the post on Truth Social, Trump warned that the US “hasn’t even started destroying what’s left in Iran,” adding that Iranian bridges and electric power plants are “next.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the strike, saying America’s image would “never recover” from the attack.

Overnight, Iran claimed its retaliatory strikes targeted locations in Israel, the UAE, and Bahrain, while Israel reported that its defensive systems successfully intercepted incoming threats.

Security analysts warn that restoring stability in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil transit route, will be a delicate and complex challenge as tensions continue to mount.
