United States announce 26-man squad for FIFA 2026 World Cup
The host nation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the United States men's national soccer team, has announced its final 26-man squad ahead of the tournament on home soil.
The squad was revealed on Wednesday (May 27) by head coach Mauricio Pochettino, who is leading preparations for what is expected to be a landmark campaign for the United States.
Experienced defender Tim Ream has been named captain and is set to lead a blend of seasoned players and emerging talents in the squad. Analysts believe his experience will play a key role in guiding the younger members of the team.
The goalkeeping department includes Chris Brady (Chicago Fire FC), Matt Freese (New York City FC), and Matt Turner (New England Revolution).
The defensive lineup features Sergiño Dest (PSV), Antonee Robinson (Fulham), Chris Richards (Crystal Palace), Joe Scally (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Miles Robinson (FC Cincinnati), along with Max Arfsten (Columbus Crew), Alex Freeman (Villarreal), Mark McKenzie (Toulouse), and Auston Trusty (Celtic).
In midfield, Pochettino has placed his trust in Tyler Adams (Bournemouth), Weston McKennie (Juventus), Giovanni Reyna (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Brendan Aaronson (Leeds United), Malik Tillman (Bayer Leverkusen), Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders), Sebastian Berhalter (Vancouver Whitecaps), and Tim Weah (Marseille).
The attacking unit is led by star forward Christian Pulisic (AC Milan), alongside Alejandro Zendejas (Club América), Folarin Balogun (Monaco), Ricardo Pepi (PSV), and Haji Wright (Coventry City).
With a mix of European-based stars and Major League Soccer talent, the United States are hoping to make a strong impact on home soil at the expanded 2026 World Cup.
