Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has instructed district administrators to carry out their duties in the upcoming election and referendum with one hundred percent honesty, impartiality and dedication, saying that this election is not a conventional election but a vote to save the country.

He made the remarks on Monday November 17 at the office of the chief adviser while addressing 64 district administrators, including 50 newly appointed district commissioners.

Pointing out that the upcoming election is not just to form a government for five years but is more significant due to the referendum, the chief adviser said, “This is a completely different type of election. The nation has witnessed many farcical elections, and we must play a role to surpass that memory.”

“This is the post-uprising election; this election will complete the uprising. Through this election, the path for the nation for the century will be determined,” the chief adviser added.

He emphasised that the role of district administrators is extremely important and that there is no room for failure. “Through this election, the nation will gain a new birth, and district administrators will act as guardians,” he said.

Addressing the district administrators, the chief adviser said, “You should know everything you need to. The election must be festive and peaceful at the same time.”

He said it should be remembered that there are a large number of young and female voters who have been eligible to vote but have been unable to exercise their right for the past fifteen years.

He said that international observers have already shown deep interest in the upcoming election. They want to see what kind of election is being held and are deeply concerned about it.

The chief adviser said, “Making this election successful is our commitment to the uprising. This election is a massive campaign, and we must win this campaign.”

He added, “As an independent nation, we must win this struggle to survive.”

The meeting, chaired by Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid of the Cabinet Division, was also attended by Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud, Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, and Law Adviser Professor Asif Nazrul. Among field administration officials, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Tangail District Commissioner Sharifa Haque, and Bogura District Commissioner Md Taufiqur Rahman delivered speeches.
