US amphibious warship carring 2,500 troops heading towards Iran
The United States has deployed about 2,500 Marine troops to the Middle East region amid the ongoing conflict involving the US, Israel and Iran.
The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit departed from the US base in Okinawa, aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli.
The Marines are expected to operate directly from the warship, ready to respond to crises or establish control in specific areas of Iran if necessary.
This marks the first time US ground forces are actively participating in the Iran conflict alongside Israel.
Analysts say the deployment signals a gradual escalation of US military presence, indicating that Washington is not pursuing a rapid resolution to the crisis.
