US conducts major airstrike on Iran’s Kharg Island

The United States has carried out a powerful airstrike on military installations on Kharg Island, located near the Strait of Hormuz off Iran’s coast, according to US President Donald Trump.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the strike was conducted by United States Central Command and described it as one of the most powerful aerial attacks in the Middle East’s history.

He claimed that all military targets on Kharg Island—often referred to as Iran’s “crown jewel”—were completely destroyed in the operation.

Trump, however, said oil infrastructure on the island was deliberately left untouched. He warned that the decision could change if Iran or any other actor attempts to disrupt the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

The US president also called on Iran to surrender its weapons, saying the country should do so if it wants to preserve what remains of its capabilities.

According to reports by BBC and Al Jazeera, the United States and Israel have been carrying out a series of strikes on Iran over the past two weeks.

Various reports suggest the death toll from the attacks has surpassed 2,000.
