US envoy briefed on election security arrangements
The newly appointed US Ambassador to Bangladesh, Brent Christensen, has been briefed in detail on various measures taken by the interim government to ensure security for the upcoming 13th National Parliament election and the national referendum.
He discussed various aspects of election security during a meeting with Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Wednesday, February 4.
The US Embassy in Dhaka confirmed the details of the meeting in a statement.
The statement mentioned that in the meeting, Ambassador Christensen heard from Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury about the interim government's various initiatives to ensure election security. The Ambassador appreciated the government's efforts for providing an opportunity to learn about these preparations through direct engagement.
In addition to election security, the meeting also discussed strengthening bilateral security cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States.
Issues of mutual cooperation in various security-related sectors of interest to both countries were also given importance in the meeting.
