US expresses grief, pledges half a million dollars for Nepal flood relief

The United States has expressed deep sorrow and condolences over the massive loss of lives in the devastating flash flood that struck Nepal's Rasuwa district. Additionally, the country has announced $500,000 in assistance to provide emergency shelters, clean water, sanitation and other relief supplies to the affected people.

The US State Department said it is closely monitoring the overall flood situation in Nepal. An adviser has already been deployed to assist with relief and rescue operations. The US will provide $500,000 in emergency financial assistance through the global fund of Catholic Relief Services to ensure emergency shelter, relief supplies, clean water and sanitation facilities for the affected people.

Meanwhile, the US embassy in Kathmandu is coordinating with local authorities to locate its nationals in the flood-affected areas and provide necessary assistance.

American citizens in Nepal have been asked to contact the embassy via a designated email for emergency assistance. They have also been advised to monitor local news and follow authorities' directives for security updates.
