The United States has imposed fresh sanctions on Lebanon-based Hezbollah over its alleged financial ties and close coordination with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), while again designating the group as a "Specially Designated Terrorist" organisation.

The US administration accused Hezbollah of working with the IRGC's Quds Force to advance Iranian interests and described the group's activities as a threat to US national security.

The latest sanctions target 10 individuals allegedly involved in transferring funds on behalf of Hezbollah.

According to the US Treasury Department, the individuals operated a network that moved large sums of money for the group and regularly travelled between Lebanon, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates and Iran.

The Treasury said the network had facilitated the transfer of billions of dollars, with the funds allegedly used to support armed groups across the Middle East.

The sanctions will block the targeted individuals and any assets linked to them that fall under US jurisdiction, effectively restricting their access to the US financial system.

Washington said the latest measures are aimed at Hezbollah's financial operations and its organisational and financial links with Iran. The action comes as the US continues to intensify economic pressure on Tehran.

The United States designated Hezbollah as a foreign terrorist organisation in 1997 and has since imposed multiple rounds of sanctions targeting the group's financing and support networks. The latest measures signal Washington's continued efforts to disrupt Hezbollah's financial infrastructure and its ties to Iran.
