Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that the United States may carry out fresh attacks on Iran even as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict continue, saying Tehran’s trust in Washington has been “completely eroded.”

The remarks came during a phone conversation on Thursday (April 30) with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, according to reports by Anadolu Agency and Iran’s state media.

Quoting Press TV, Pezeshkian said dialogue and diplomacy have always been Iran’s preferred path but accused the US and what he referred to as the “Zionist regime” of launching attacks during previous negotiations. “There is a possibility such actions could be repeated,” he said, adding that Iran can no longer rely on Washington.

Tensions escalated following the conflict that began on February 28, after which Tehran moved to close the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, triggering global concern.

A ceasefire was announced on April 8 through mediation by Pakistan. Subsequent talks held in Islamabad on April 11 failed to produce a final agreement.

Although US President Donald Trump later extended the ceasefire unilaterally at Pakistan’s request, no clear timeline for its duration has been specified.
