US military action will cause bloodshed: Cuba
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel has warned that a military action by the United States against Cuba would cause a “bloodshed” in the country.
His comments come as tensions with the United States have been rising in recent times. Relations between the two countries have long been strained, but analysts consider the current situation to be “more fragile than at any time in the past.”
AFP reported on Tuesday (May 19).
According to analysts, new concerns have arisen over US President Donald Trump’s recent policy stance and regional strategy. In particular, Cuba’s initiative to increase its drone capabilities has caused unease among Washington’s security agencies.
The report states that US intelligence agencies are considering Cuba as a potential “threat.” They fear that Cuba could launch drone attacks in areas such as Guantanamo Bay and Florida.
In a message on X (formerly Twitter), Miguel Diaz-Canel said that Cuba does not plan aggression against any country and does not intend to attack the United States.
He also said that Cuba has the full right to resist military aggression.
At the same time, he complained that Cuba has long been the victim of a "multidimensional aggression" by the United States.
The report said that Cuba is currently facing a serious energy crisis due to the long embargo. The country is experiencing frequent power outages due to the disruption of imports of essential materials for power generation.
Washington has recently imposed new sanctions on several Cuban officials and organizations. In addition, international shipping companies are also restricting the transportation of goods to Cuba, which is putting pressure on the country's food security.
According to analysts, if a military conflict breaks out, the humanitarian and economic situation in Cuba could become even more dire. There is a risk that the food and energy crises in particular will intensify.
While diplomatic tensions between the two countries continue, there is growing concern in international circles about where the situation will turn.
