US Secretary of State departs G7 Summit early
Following President Donald Trump’s early departure, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also cut short his visit to the G7 summit in Alberta, Canada, and is returning to Washington.
According to a Reuters report, the decision comes as the White House focuses on the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel. Trump shortened his G7 attendance to consult with U.S. national security officials, instructing the National Security Council to remain on high alert.
French President Emmanuel Macron revealed that Trump has proposed a ceasefire, though no detailed information was provided. Neither Israel nor Iran have formally responded to the proposal. Previously, Tehran stated that if Israel halts its attacks, they would cease retaliatory actions.
Speaking at the summit, Macron expressed hope that the U.S. could successfully implement the ceasefire, calling it a positive development.
