US special envoy Charles J Harder to arrive in Dhaka on 3-day visit
US Special Envoy Charles J Harder will arrive in Dhaka on Saturday, April 18, on a three-day visit to further strengthen cooperation between the United States and Bangladesh on education and child welfare.
During the visit, he will hold several meetings with high-level government officials and relevant stakeholders to ensure the development and protection of the country's future generations.
The 'Best Future Generations' programme under the US Department of State aims to protect the interests of children aged zero to 17 worldwide, ensure their welfare and work for their overall development.
During the three-day visit, Harder will also exchange views with government officials, civil society representatives and education sector experts. The main focus of discussions will be how to create a safer and more promising environment for children in Bangladesh through joint initiatives between the two countries.
Discussions will also focus on increasing cooperation in education, child health, nutrition, safe water, sanitation and child rights.
The US embassy in Dhaka said in a statement that during the visit, he will meet with government officials, development organisations, private sector entities and representatives of international organisations to discuss practical and sustainable initiatives for child welfare.
Charles J Harder currently serves as the US Special Envoy for 'Best Future Generations'. His office works to protect and develop children worldwide, focusing on ensuring food security, education and healthcare, as well as preventing child labour, trafficking and violence.
He has been associated with the legal profession for over 25 years and has worked in various fields as an expert in business, media and constitutional law.
