US tech CEO resigns following viral Coldplay concert video
Andy Byron, the CEO of the American tech company Astronomer, has resigned after a video of him hugging a colleague at a concert went viral. The company confirmed his resignation through a statement on their LinkedIn profile, according to Reuters.
In the statement, it was mentioned that Andy Byron voluntarily offered to step down from his CEO position, and the company’s board accepted his resignation. Earlier, he had been temporarily suspended on Friday. Pete D-Joy, the Chief Product Officer, is now serving as the interim CEO.
The incident took place on Wednesday night during a Coldplay concert in Boston, USA. A couple in the audience was seen hugging on a big screen, but as soon as their faces appeared, they quickly turned away, which caught the attention of the crowd.
The video went viral, fueled in part by a lighthearted remark from Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin. He quipped, "Either they’re having an affair, or they’re very shy!" This playful comment led to rumors of an affair circulating online, and the video rapidly spread across TikTok and other social media platforms.
