US to continue cooperation in Bangladesh's infrastructure development: Ambassador

Welcoming the current government of Bangladesh, US Ambassador Brent T Christensen has said that US cooperation will continue in road safety, modern transport systems, and sustainable infrastructure development.

He also expressed firm commitment to advancing the country's communication sector through increased investment and the exchange of technical knowledge.

The ambassador made these remarks during a meeting with Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam on Sunday, April 12. The meeting discussed ongoing development activities in the road, rail and water transport sectors, as well as potential future cooperation.

Road Transport Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is working tirelessly to modernise, secure and make sustainable the country's communication system."

He expressed optimism about potential US investment and technical assistance in this sector. Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr Mohammad Ziaul Haque was also present at the meeting.
