US to halt Iran energy strikes for 10 more days: Trump

US President Donald Trump has announced a further 10-day pause in strikes on Iran’s energy facilities amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Thursday (March 27), Trump said the decision was taken following a request from the Iranian government. The pause will remain in effect until 8:00pm (US local time) on April 6.

Trump added that talks between the two sides are ongoing, despite what he described as “fake news” reports, and indicated that diplomatic efforts are continuing.

Earlier this week, Trump had announced a halt to strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure until Friday.

The development comes as both sides appear to be keeping diplomatic channels open alongside heightened regional tensions.
