US to launch major attack on Iran today: Hegseth

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that the US will launch major attacks on Iran today. He said at a press conference at the Pentagon that the maximum number of fighter jets and bombers will be used to attack Iran today, reports Al Jazeera.

Hegseth also noted that, 'Iran has launched the fewest number of missiles in the last 24 hours since the war began.'

General Dan Kaine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said, 'Ballistic missile attacks have decreased by about 90 percent compared to the beginning, and the rate of one-way drone attacks has decreased by 83 percent.'

He said that the US is taking strategic steps to ensure the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Hegseth warned that Iran's new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, should not take Donald Trump's message seriously and try to develop nuclear weapons. The Pentagon will maintain maximum vigilance to minimize the risk of civilian casualties and allegations will be investigated if necessary.
