US urges India, Pakistan to move towards responsible resolution
The United States has urged the two countries to work towards a “responsible resolution” in the context of rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir.
The US has made this call in the wake of the escalation of tensions between Pakistan and India, which have reached a peak and are threatening to escalate into a military conflict.
This information was reported by the news agency Reuters on Monday.
In a statement on Sunday, the US State Department said that Washington is closely monitoring the situation and is in contact with the governments of both India and Pakistan at various levels.
In a statement, a US State Department spokesperson told Reuters, “This is an ongoing situation and we are closely monitoring the developments in this situation. We are in regular contact with both India and Pakistan.”
He added, “The United States encourages all parties to move towards a responsible resolution.”
The United States has publicly supported India and strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahelgam, but has so far refrained from directly criticizing Pakistan.
The State Department spokesperson added, “The United States stands with India and strongly condemns the heinous terrorist attack in Pahelgam.” This essentially echoed recent comments by US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
The Pahelgam attack, which killed 26 people, has reignited tensions between India and Pakistan. India has taken a number of diplomatic measures, and Pakistan has responded.
