US-Israel strikes in Iran leave 1,444 dead
At least 1,444 people have been killed and 18,551 others injured in Iran following airstrikes by United States and Israel, according to a Iranian Health Ministry report on Friday (March 13).
The strikes, which began on February 28, have targeted multiple cities including Tehran and civilian infrastructure such as schools and hospitals, reports Al Jazeera.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning on social media, pledging to “completely destroy Iran’s terrorist regime” through military and economic means.
Trump claimed that Iran has spent the past 47 years killing innocent people worldwide, and framed current actions as part of his duty as the 47th US President.
Separately, a report from The Guardian revealed that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned of “even stricter measures” to suppress any new anti-government protests, surpassing the crackdown implemented in January.
