US-Israel strikes push Iran into uncharted turmoil
Tehran was shaken by a series of powerful explosions early Monday (March 2) as Israel and the United States intensified their military offensive against Iran.
US President Donald Trump said operations would continue until all designated targets are neutralised, adding that the joint campaign could last up to four weeks.
According to live updates from Iran International, multiple strong explosions were heard around 3:30am (local time) in western Tehran, including at the Shahid Bagheri residential complex.
Reports also indicated strikes on several key facilities across the capital.
Iranian outlet 'nournews' reported ongoing blasts in both western and eastern districts of the city.
Meanwhile, United States Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed that more than 1,000 targets were struck within the first 24 hours of the operation.
The strikes reportedly focused on Iran’s ballistic missile installations, IRGC headquarters, control centers, and multiple military sites in Tehran.
In a dramatic development, sources claimed that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed during the initial phase of the assault. Several senior officials, military commanders, family members, and a former president were also reportedly among the casualties.
Khamenei’s reported death has further destabilised Iran’s political landscape, triggering nationwide uncertainty and heightened tensions as the conflict deepens.
