Vessels passing via Hormuz need IRGC permission
Commercial vessels can pass through the Strait of Hormuz along a determined route with the permission of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Navy, Iran’s state TV reports, citing a senior military official.
Military vessels will not be allowed to pass through the strait, the official adds.
Earlier today, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said “passage for all commercial vessels through [the] Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of the ceasefire” in a post on X.
Iranian state TV has now quoted a “senior military official” as saying that the passage of these vessels will be through a “designated route” and with the permission of the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Forces) Navy.
On the designated route, the official told state TV that has been decided by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organisation.
According to Iran’s state TV, citing the senior military official, the passage of military vessels through the Strait of Hormuz will still be “prohibited.”
