Election and the armed forces
Chief adviser of the interim government, Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, said free, fair and festive elections will be held in February, and that the armed forces must play a historic role in the process.
Enforced disappearance case
In the enforced disappearance case, a petition has been filed seeking formal charges against 17 accused, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who is now out of power. The court has also rejected the petition for virtual appearance submitted by ten army officers implicated in the case.

Writ seeking election suspension
Advocate Earul Islam, secretary general of the registered political party Bangladesh Congress, has filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking suspension of all activities relating to the 13th national parliamentary election.

Trade adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin said the ministry was unaware of soybean oil price hikes, adding that edible oil refiners have unanimously increased prices.

Student protest
Students of the seven colleges staged a road blockade in front of Dhaka College, demanding issuance of the proposed Dhaka Central University ordinance. The protest caused severe gridlock on the New Market road.
