Vijay marriage row takes new turn as Trisha’s posts fuel speculation

Fresh speculation has emerged around the personal life of Tamil superstar and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay after his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, withdrew a divorce petition, followed by a pair of cryptic social media posts by actress Trisha Krishnan.

On August 7, Sangeetha appeared virtually before the Chengalpattu Family Court and said she no longer wished to pursue the divorce proceedings. Vijay’s lawyer did not oppose the request, and the court allowed the withdrawal.

The court order did not disclose a specific reason for the sudden decision, while leaving the option open for her to file a fresh petition in the future.

The development was followed by renewed online speculation after Trisha posted two messages on her Instagram Stories. In one, she wrote that seeing such “drama” at this age was embarrassing and suggested that people should instead earn money and live peacefully. In another, she reflected on the privilege of being able to live the life one had once prayed for.

Trisha did not identify anyone or specify what the posts referred to. However, their timing prompted speculation on social media that they could be linked to the developments surrounding Vijay’s marriage.

Rumours about Vijay and Trisha’s relationship are not new. The two have never publicly confirmed any romantic relationship, despite years of speculation. When Sangeetha filed for divorce in February, she reportedly cited Vijay’s alleged closeness to an actress, although the woman was not identified in the court documents. Trisha’s name has nevertheless long featured in speculation within Tamil cinema circles.

Their public appearances have also repeatedly attracted attention, including their reported presence at a wedding in Chennai, Trisha’s visit to Vijay’s residence on the day of the Tamil Nadu Assembly election results and her attendance at his swearing-in ceremony as chief minister.

Neither Vijay nor Trisha has publicly linked the actress’s recent posts to the divorce proceedings, and there is no confirmed evidence establishing such a connection.

Away from the speculation, Trisha recently shared family moments from her grandmother’s 98th birthday celebrations on Instagram. On screen, however, Vijay and Trisha remain one of Tamil cinema’s popular pairings, having appeared together in films including Ghilli, Thirupaachi, Kuruvi and Leo.

For now, the cryptic posts and the withdrawal of the divorce petition have added fresh fuel to long-running rumours, but the nature of any relationship between Vijay and Trisha remains unconfirmed.
