Voted with hope for change: Sarjis
Sarjis Alam, candidate of 11-party alliance for Panchagarh-1 constituency and chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in the northern region, cast his vote on Thursday morning.
He voted at the Bamon Kumar Rakhal Devi Hat Ideal High School polling center in Atwari upazila around 8:30am. Arriving at the center at 8:00am with his father and younger brother, Sarjis stood in line before casting his vote. He voted for the Shapla Koli (Water Lily Bud) symbol.
After voting, Sarjis said he cast his ballot for the Shapla Koli, the symbol of a united Bangladesh under the 11-party alliance, and also voted “Yes” in the referendum in a festive atmosphere. He said he voted with the hope of bringing change.
He expressed hope that the election would ultimately be free and fair and that everyone would respect the will of the people.
He also expected professional conduct from the officials responsible for managing the voting process.
Sarjis alleged that in recent days, some BNP leaders and activists had obstructed and threatened voters.
However, he said he hoped such incidents would not occur on election day.
He added that if the administration ensures a fair election, they would have no complaints.
