War of words between France and Spain before semi-final battle
A war of words is underway between France and Spain ahead of their semi-final clash in Dallas. It seems neither side is willing to give any ground in words, just as they would not on the ball.
Even before it was confirmed that Spain would play France in the semi-final, Lamine Yamal had made a comment about the two-time world champions. The Spanish playmaker said, "France is not a better team than us. They should be afraid of us."
Ahead of the face-off against France tonight, Yamal explained his comments. He said, "I was asked if I was afraid of France. I said no, I am not afraid. We are European champions and this is football."
In response, France midfielder Adrien Rabiot has made it clear that they too fear no one. The 31-year-old PSG midfielder said, "Everything is going very well. We are going into this match in the best possible shape. At the end of the day, it's football, and we fear no one."
Rabiot also said there is no specific plan to mark Yamal. He said, "No, we don't have any special plan for Yamal. We are thinking about Spain, not an individual player. I know they are a very dangerous team. He is not the only one; there are others with him. Their ability to keep possession, to attack in tight spaces, and their forward coordination is excellent. So our focus is on the whole team."
