Warfaze returns with new album after 14 years, releases first song 'Girgiti'

Leading Bangladeshi heavy metal band Warfaze is returning with a new studio album after a long hiatus of 14 years. The legendary band made its official comeback with the release of "Girgiti," the first track from the upcoming album.

The audio and music video of the song were released at an event on Monday. The track is now available on the official YouTube channel of Loyy Records.

This marks Warfaze's first song from a full-length studio album since 2012. Besides being part of the new album, "Girgiti" will also feature in an upcoming film of the same name, currently under production by Upstudio Production House. The movie is being produced by Hamidul Hasan Nobin and directed by Sourav Kundu.

The lyrics for the song have been penned by Shams Mansoor Ghani and KM Imranul Haque Ritul, with Shams Mansoor Ghani composing the tune. The musical arrangement and performance were done collectively by the entire Warfaze band, while Upstudio Production House directed the music video.

Loy Records expressed pride in releasing new music for such an influential rock band. Since its inception in 2021, the label has been working with diverse genres of Bangladeshi music and has previously released five singles by Warfaze.

The year 2026 holds immense significance for Warfaze. The band is celebrating 42 years of its musical journey this year. They have also been honored with the prestigious Ekushey Padak in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the country's music scene. Additionally, they have collaborated with the global brand Zippo to launch a special edition Zippo lighter.

Since starting its journey in 1984, Warfaze has released seven studio albums: Warfaze, Obak Bhalobasha, Jibondhara, Oshamajik, Aalo, Maharaj, and Shotto.

Currently, the band is working on another album titled Pothchola 2, which will feature re-arranged versions of their popular old hits. Alongside this, they plan to gradually release the remaining tracks of the new studio album, which consists of seven to eight songs.

Over a musical career spanning more than four decades, Warfaze has delivered timeless hits such as "Boshay Achhi," "Nei Proyojon," "Oshamajik," "Obak Bhalobasha," "Jononi," "Joto Dure," "Bewarish," "Maharaj," "Tomake," "Purnota," "Shotto," and "Rupkotha."
