We will not play against India in T20 world cup: Shehbaz Sharif
Pakistan will not play against India in the T20 World Cup under any circumstances, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced. He stated, "We will not play against India in the T20 world cup in any way. India's policy in cricket is unacceptable. We stand with Bangladesh."
On Wednesday, he clarified his country's cricket board's position regarding the match against India in the world cup during a cabinet meeting.
At the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif said, "There should be no place for politics in sports. The Pakistan government and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have taken this decision after careful consideration. We believe it is our moral duty to stand by Bangladesh in the current situation."
The Pakistani prime minister also stated that Pakistan has taken this strict decision not to play against India in the context of Bangladesh being excluded from the tournament by the ICC.
Earlier, the Bangladesh government had refused to send the national cricket team to India citing security concerns and proposed hosting matches in Sri Lanka. However, the proposal was rejected at the ICC Board meeting due to lack of support from board members, and Scotland was included in the tournament in place of Bangladesh. Pakistan had also supported Bangladesh at that board meeting.
