West Indies wins the toss and bats 1st in the 2nd test against Bangladesh

Bangladesh are taking on West Indies in the second and final Test in Sylhet on Thursday (November 5), with their hopes of keeping the series alive hanging in the balance. West Indies captain Roston Chase won the toss and elected to bat, sending the hosts in to field first.

Najmul Hossain Shanto's side are trailing in the two-match series after losing the opening Test in Mirpur. Bangladesh must win the Sylhet Test to level the series.

Bangladesh have made two changes to their playing XI. Mominul Haque, who suffered a head injury while fielding during the first Test, is unavailable for the match. Jaker Ali Anik replaced him as a concussion substitute and batted in the second innings. Under the rules, a batter who comes on as a concussion substitute cannot play in another match within seven days of the replacement. Mushfiqur Rahim, who missed the Mirpur Test due to injury, has returned to the side in Mominul's place.

There is also a change in the bowling attack, with right-arm fast bowler Taskin Ahmed replacing Shoriful Islam. As in the previous Test, Bangladesh have opted for an attack featuring two pacers and three spinners. Mominul's absence could also lead to some reshuffling of the batting order.

West Indies have also made two changes to their playing XI. Openers Johnathan Campbell and Tagenarine Chanderpaul have been ruled out of the Sylhet Test due to viral fever. Wicketkeeper-batter Joshua Da Silva has come into the side, while Kevin Wickham is making his Test debut.
