What happened to Nayeem Hasan is unacceptable: Tamim Iqbal

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President and former captain Tamim Iqbal has strongly condemned the incident involving national team cricketer Nayeem Hasan. He said what happened to Nayeem is not acceptable in any way, and the BCB will take all necessary steps regarding the matter.

In a social media post on Saturday afternoon, Tamim said that after Nayeem called him on the night of the incident, he and other board directors immediately took measures to address the situation .

"Whatever happened with Nayeem Hasan last night is not acceptable. After Nayeem called me last night, I and other board directors have tried to do whatever was necessary immediately. We are speaking to all concerned authorities and are in close contact with Nayeem and his family," Tamim wrote .

He further informed that the BCB has already issued an official statement protesting and condemning the incident. "The BCB has issued a statement expressing strong protest and condemnation this morning. We will do everything that needs to be done further. We are always with Nayeem and all cricketers," Tamim added .

The incident involving Nayeem Hasan has caused concern across the country's cricketing fraternity. BCB officials have said the board is treating the matter regarding the safety and dignity of cricketers with the utmost seriousness .

According to Nayeem's allegations, he was on his way home to Chattogram after playing a Dhaka Premier League match at BKSP when plainclothes individuals, later identified as members of the Detective Branch (DB), stopped the auto-rickshaw he was travelling in near Lalkhan Bazar . He claimed he was grabbed by the throat, beaten with pipes and batons, and later taken to Khulshi Police Station, where he was further mistreated . Police have withdrawn three personnel, including a sub-inspector, from Khulshi Police Station in connection with the incident .
