WhatsApp introduces AI-powered writing assistance in Beta
Meta-owned WhatsApp is rolling out a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature to enhance chatting by instantly correcting writing, design, and grammar errors. The feature is currently being tested in the app’s beta version, according to Indian Express.
WhatsApp has clarified that this new tool will not store any data-related content, ensuring user privacy. However, users will be able to utilize AI assistance while composing messages.
When a user types a message and prepares to send it, a new pen icon will appear next to the sticker icon. Clicking this icon will send the message to Meta’s AI, which then suggests three tone options—such as professional, helpful, funny, or rewritten—to make the message more suitable.
Users can select their preferred option and continue their conversation seamlessly. Importantly, the message recipient will have no way of knowing that the text was AI-enhanced.
Currently available for a limited number of beta users on Android, WhatsApp plans to refine the feature further before making it accessible to the wider audience.
This AI-powered writing tool aims to assist business users in maintaining professional communication and also offers casual users a fun way to spice up conversations with friends.
