Chief Adviser to the interim government, Muhammad Yunus, has stressed that whichever party comes to power in the future, bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and China must continue. He made this call during a meeting with a delegation from the China-Bangladesh Partnership Forum at the state guesthouse Jamuna on Wednesday, November 3.

He also emphasised strengthening cooperation in health, infrastructure, and the digital sectors, and expressed gratitude for the Chinese government's continued support. This information was shared in a press release from his office on Friday.

During the meeting, senior adviser to the board of directors of Walvax Biotechnology, Andrew Zhilong Ong, and managing director of Walvax Biotech (Singapore), Yuching Yao, shared their experiences and interest in working in Bangladesh. The company, which exports vaccines to at least 22 countries, is exploring the possibility of producing PCV and HPV vaccines locally in Bangladesh, as it does in the UK and Indonesia.

Recalling his long-standing ties with China through the microcredit movement, the Chief Adviser stated he had witnessed changes in people's lives in remote Chinese villages, an idea China later adopted into its own programmes.

He emphasised that cooperation between the two countries must continue even after a new government takes office, noting he would step down in a few weeks but the work between Bangladesh and China must proceed.
