White House gun scare suspect identified
The suspect detained following the gun scare at the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner attended by US President Donald Trump has been identified by unofficial sources, though authorities have not yet confirmed his identity.
The incident took place Saturday night (April 25) when gunshots were heard outside the venue, triggering panic among attendees and prompting the immediate evacuation of Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
According to several US media analysts citing social media information, the suspect has been named as Cole Thomas Allen, a 31-year-old resident of Torrance, California, who is currently in custody.
However, US authorities have only confirmed that the detained individual is a male from California and have not officially released his identity.
Witnesses reported hearing between five to eight gunshots during the event. Security personnel quickly secured the area and took control of the situation.
A law enforcement official said attendees were escorted out as a precaution, while the United States Secret Service assumed full control of the venue.
Trump later confirmed the suspect’s arrest, stating that all senior officials present were unharmed.
Authorities, including local law enforcement leadership, are continuing to investigate the motive behind the incident.
