White House launches ‘Trump TV’ amid escalating media dispute

The White House has launched a 24-hour video streaming platform dubbed “Trump TV: The Essentials Station” amid an escalating dispute between the Trump administration and several major US news organisations.

Launched Monday (September 21), the online channel features President Donald Trump’s public appearances, administration announcements, policy-related videos and archival footage.

The White House said the stream will operate around the clock, seven days a week, with new content and announcements added over time.

The launch came days after the administration barred journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House. The three outlets filed a federal lawsuit on Monday, alleging that the decision violated their First Amendment press freedoms and Fifth Amendment due-process rights.

They have asked the court to suspend the ban and restore their access.

The administration has defended the restrictions, arguing that access to the White House is a privilege rather than an unconditional right. Trump has also accused the three outlets of publishing what he calls “fake news.”

The dispute has also disrupted the White House television press pool, which normally rotates among ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC to provide video coverage of presidential events. After CNN was removed from the pool, the other four networks suspended the pool’s presidential coverage.

With the traditional television pool halted, the White House’s new streaming service provides a direct government-controlled channel for distributing footage of Trump and his administration.
